A mid-19th century edition of the classic and fundamental work Sefer Keritut ספר כריתות. This work is one of the most important early guides to the methodology of the Talmud, explaining the hermeneutic rules (the 13 Middot).


  • Commentary: This edition features the commentary Likutie Mordechai ליקוטי מרדכי by the publisher, Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Zilberman.
  • Special Feature: The final leaf contains a detailed woodcut illustration of the Temple (Tzurat HaBayit צורת הבית).

Author: The author is the Rishon, Rabbi Shimshon of Chinon (Samson ben Isaac of Chinon), who lived in France during the 13th and 14th centuries. He was one of the later Baalei Tosafot בעלי התוספות.

Binding: The original boards are present but are heavily worn, peeling, and detached (spine is missing).

Pages: The title page shows significant wear, staining, and fraying at the edges. The internal pages are textually complete but show aging, yellowing, and staining/foxing throughout.

Illustration: The woodcut of the Temple at the end is intact.
