Buyer's premium:

A substantial autograph letter (multiple pages) handwritten by Rabbi Hillel Witkind, one of the primary builders of the Novardok Musar movement in Eretz Yisrael. The letter is written on the official letterhead of the Center Yeshivah of Nowogrudok "Beth-Joseph" in Tel Aviv-Jaffa. Addressed to Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu Henkin, the head of Ezras Torah (עזרת תורה) in New York, the correspondence highlights the vital financial and spiritual bridge between the developing Torah center in Tel Aviv and the American Rabbinate.

Author:

Rabbi Hillel Witkind (הגאון רבי הלל ויטקינד), author of the Musar work Musar HaTorah (מוסר התורה). He was a leading disciple of the "Alter of Novardok" and the founder of the first Novardok yeshiva in Tel Aviv, which later became the famed Beit Hillel.

Notable Connection:

Rabbi Witkind was the Chavruta (study partner) and lifelong close friend of the Steipler Gaon, Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky (הסטייפלר – הגאון רבי יעקב ישראל קניבסקי). Their partnership began in the intense, fiery halls of the Novardok yeshivas in Europe and continued as they both became pillars of the Torah world in Eretz Yisrael. This letter represents a historical convergence of three giants: the author (Rabbi Witkind), his legendary study partner (the Steipler), and the recipient (Rabbi Henkin).
