Description
Author: The celebrated Italian halachic authority and sage, Rabbi Daniel Terni (רבי דניאל טירני זצ"ל), Chief Rabbi of Florence.
Content: This lot features Volume 2 (חלק ב’) of his monumental code, Sefer Ikrei HaDat (ספר עיקרי הדט), focusing entirely on the complex laws of Yoreh Deah (יורה דעה). The work is a vital, comprehensive digest of practical legal rulings and conclusions from the Shulchan Aruch.
Printing Detail: Printed in Florence, Italy (פירינצי) in the year 1806 (תקס"ו), as encoded in the title chronogram אורה ושמח ה. Notably, the title page features the word AMSTERDAM (אמשטרדם) in large, prominent lettering—a highly sought-after typographic technique used by Italian printers to boast that the volume was set using premium, elegant Amsterdam-style fonts.
Notable Connection & Provenance: The title page preserves two historic Sephardic ink signatures: הצעיר מרדכי לארידו (The young Mordechai Laredo) and אברהם לארידו (Abraham Laredo). The Laredo family was one of the most illustrious and aristocratic rabbinic and merchant dynasties of the Western Mediterranean, serving as dayanim and communal pillars in Tangier and Gibraltar. This copy serves as physical proof of the rich cultural and book-trading pipelines connecting Italian Jewry with the elite Sephardic communities of North Africa.
