Description

  • Overview: An exceptional, multi-signed official communal document dated the 3rd of Tevet, 5716 (December 14, 1955), composed on the historic letterhead of Kupath Ramban — Kollel Polen Warsa in Israel (קופת רמבעה"ן כולל פולין ורשה בישראל). The letter is addressed directly to the presidium of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the US and Canada (Agudas HaRabbonim).
  • Historical Content: The letter outlines an urgent, massive post-war rescue initiative to establish an expansive residential housing complex consisting of over a thousand apartments in Jerusalem. This enterprise was designed to provide dignity and housing to aging Polish Chassidic scholars, displaced refugees, and destitute families who lost everything in the horrors of the Holocaust. The text dynamically invokes the active blessing and backing of the Gerrer Rebbe (Beis Yisrael), Rabbi Tzvi Pesach Frank (Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem), and the Amshinover Rebbe.
  • The Directory of the 7 Historic Signatories:
    1. Rabbi Shmai Ginzburg (הרה"ח ר’ שמאי גינזבורג זצ"ל): The celebrated saintly Chassidic master, author of Imrei Shmai, and the legendary personal attendant (Meshamesh) of the Imrei Emes of Ger. This exact letter is featured as a cornerstone of his biography, הגאון החסיד — פרשת חייו וגדולתו של רבי שמאי גינזבורג.
    2. Rabbi Shimon Bokshpan (רבי שמעון בוקשפאן זצ"ל): A towering Jerusalem scholar, celebrated as one of the select, elite inner-circle disciples of the legendary Gaon Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer.
    3. Rabbi Tuvia Silman (רבי טוביה סילמן זצ"ל): A premier leader and activist of the Warsaw Kollel network whose lifelong efforts rebuilding religious infrastructure in Lodz and Jerusalem are historically cataloged.
    4. Rabbi Yaakov Hanokh Sinkevich (הרב יעקב חנוך סנקביץ זצ"ל): The world-renowned, brilliant Rosh Yeshiva of Sfas Emes in Jerusalem and a leading public voice of Polish Chassidic Jewry.
    5. Rabbi Moshe Aaron Rozental (משה אהרן רוזנטאל זצ"ל): Highly respected halachic authority and author of the foundational Matteh Aaron on Tractate Bava Batra.
    6. Rabbi Yaakov Leib Levy (יעקב ליב לוי): Celebrated 20th-century Jerusalem scholar and author of the classic commentary Be’er Yaakov on Rashi’s Chumash.
    7. Rabbi Baruch Weinstock (ברוך ויינשטוק זצ"ל): Acclaimed Chassidic halachic author and compiler of the famous Passover compendium Chorchei HaChag.
  • Notable Connection: This document captures a rare, beautiful alignment where Chabad scholars, Gur Chassidim, and Lithuanian Roshei Yeshiva signed side-by-side. It stands as a premier primary artifact highlighting the unified rabbinic efforts to reconstruct the crown of pre-war Polish Jewry on the soil of the Holy Land.

  • Condition report:

    Status: Excellent Archival Condition.

Details: The paper is clean, bright, and structurally fully intact. It exhibits its original, neat horizontal mailing folds. The printed blue institutional heading is remarkably crisp, and the official purple ink round seal of the Kollel ("קופת רמבעה"ן כולל פולין וארשא בירושלים") is perfectly struck without any smudging. All seven handwritten rabbinic ink signatures remain dark, vivid, and beautifully preserved.
